These are necessary for a hamster's cage:
1. A wheel - a hamster needs exercise and a wheel is a great way to let them do it on there own
2. Bedding - Hamsters burrow, so they need a couple inches of fluff or wood chips. Don't get cedar or pine chips, only aspen because they aren't healthy for your hamster. Shredded newspaper or paper can be used but it is not recommended.
3. Food- Always have food for your hamster, change out unused food each day. Fresh food can also be fed to your hamster but make sure it is safe!
4. Water- fresh, clean, water should always be available for your hamster. Bottles are recommended but bowls can be used too.
5. Toys - Hamster's teeth continue to grow, so chew toys are needed to make sure they can keep their teeth healthy. Also, hamsters can get bored so toys give them something to do.
6. Nesting Material- Shredded white paper will do fine, but hamsters build nests. You can buy Timothy Hay and they use it for nesting.
